Robinson Hall Replacement

Week of Oct. 7:

  • Continue steel erection moving south and then up to floor six and repeat starting at north end of building and moving south for six floors and roof.
  • Offsite work is progressing on coordination and inspections of pre-fabricated electrical rooms that are being fabricated offsite in a warehouse facility in southern Virginia.   
  • Continue installation of elevated underfloor mechanical and electrical and telecom utilities.
  • Installation of waterproofing and brick on building elevation mock up.
  • Continue installation of underground utilities on north and south ends of new building.
  • Complete pour of concrete deck on building level two.

Week of Oct. 14:

  • Installation of waterproofing and brick on building elevation mock up.
  • Continue installation of underground utilities on north and south ends of new building.
  • Prep for concrete slab on deck pour floor three.
  • Start layout of partitions on level two.

Utility Infrastructure Project

Week of Oct. 7:

  • Continue work to improve high-temperature hot water tunnel in Phase 3 areas (Wilkins Plaza extension from clock to Southside Plaza). This work includes a continuing high-temperature hot water shutdown that will be completed before start of heating season on Oct. 15.
  • Continue to excavate for new underground electrical and telecom for future Wilkins Plaza event power, light poles, and Wi-Fi.
  • Continue work on new concrete serpentine wall in Phase 3 areas. 
  • Pipe delivery continues for Phase 4 areas (Southside east to Central Heating and Cooling Plant).
  • Continue trenching and pipe installation in Phase 4 areas. Chilled water outage starts Oct. 11 to install caps and will be completed with chilled water returned to service by Oct. 14.
  • Closure of Rivanna River Road as pipe is delivered and installed in Phase 4 areas. This closure will continue through the middle of October. 
  • Finalize test pitting to determine location of underground utilities in Phase 5 areas (between the Johnson Center and Exploratory and David King halls). There will be fencing installed to do some temporary path work and tree removal work between Oct. 11-14.

Week of Oct. 14:
