Robinson Hall Replacement

Week of Sept. 23:

  • Continue steel erection moving south and then up to Floor 6 and repeat starting at north end of building and moving south for six floors.
  • Offsite work is progressing on coordination and inspections of prefabricated electrical rooms that are being fabricated offsite in a warehouse facility in southern Virginia.   
  • Continue installation of elevated underfloor mechanical, electrical and telecom utilities.
  • Installation of steel studs and sheathing on building elevation mock up.
  • Continue installation of underground utilities on north and south ends of new building.
  • Begin prep for pouring concrete deck on building Level 2.

Week of Sept. 30:

  • Offsite work is progressing on coordination and inspections of prefabricated electrical rooms that are being fabricated offsite in a warehouse facility in southern Virginia.   
  • Continue installation of elevated underfloor mechanical, electrical and telecom utilities
  • Installation of waterproofing and brick on building elevation mock up.
  • Continue installation of underground utilities on north and south ends of new building.
  • Pour concrete deck on building Level 2.

Utility Infrastructure Project

Week of Sept. 23:

  • Continue hardscape and landscape punch list in Phase 1 (Aquia Creek Lane, Johnson Center South Plaza, EagleBank Arena) and 2 (Music/Theater, West Building) areas, including planting sod in areas of Phase 2 near College Hall.
  • Continue work to improve high-temperature hot water tunnel in Phase 3 areas (Wilkins Plaza extension from clock to Southside Plaza).  This work includes a high-temperature hot water shutdown that started on Sept. 9 and will be completed before Oct. 15.
  • Continue to excavate for new underground electrical and telecom for future Wilkins Plaza event power, light poles and Wi-Fi.
  • Continue work on new concrete serpentine wall in Phase 3 (Wilkins Plaza extension east to Southside) area.  This work includes the installation of a mockup of new concrete seat wall.
  • Pipe delivery continues for Phase 4 (Southside east to Central Heating and Cooling Plant), 5 (between the Johnson Center and Exploratory and David King halls) and 6 (Commons housing) areas.
  • Continue trenching and pipe installation in Phase 4 areas.
  • Closure of Rivanna River Road as pipe is delivered and installed in Phase 4 areas. This closure will continue through the middle of October and includes lane closures on Patriot Circle at Rivanna River Lane near the Central Heating and Cooling Plant as new pipes cross under Patriot Circle. This work also includes the closure of Desktop Support Modular Parking during overnight and weekend hours so pipe trench can be completed across the entrance road. 
  • Finalize test pitting to determine location of underground utilities in Phase 5 areas.

Week of Sept. 30:
