Tree work will be in progress on the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University around Patriot Circle, Lot K, and Presidents Park on Friday, Oct. 6, and Saturday, Oct. 7. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Temporary sidewalk closures may be in effect during this time, and heavy equipment will be present.

The sidewalk along Fairfax Drive directly in front of the Fuse at Mason Square construction site will be closed starting this week through the rest of the fall semester. The pedestrian bridge between Washington Boulevard (near the north entrance to Vernon Smith Hall) and the FDIC plaza will have intermittent closures during September.

George Mason Facilities is excited to announce a Custodial Pilot Program launching this fall on the SciTech Campus and in Merten Hall on the Fairfax Campus.

Contractors will repair sidewalks on the northeast side of Student Union Building I (SUB I) and near door A9 of Horizon Hall on Friday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Sept. 9, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tree work will be completed on the west end of Wilkins Plaza on Friday, Sept. 8, and Saturday, Sept. 9. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Sections of sidewalk on the east side of Ike's Diner will be closed from Tuesday, Sept. 5, through Thursday, Sept. 14, while repairs are performed. Accessible ramps into Ike's will remain open during this work.

As the fall 2023 semester begins, Mason students, faculty and staff are reminded that traffic on and around the Fairfax Campus greatly increases, especially during the first few weeks of the semester. This campus parking and transportation guide with information on Mason Shuttles, visitor and non-permit parking options, biking, carpooling and other transit options will help minimize potential parking and traffic delays. 

As George Mason University gets ready to welcome residential students to campus for the new academic year, several parking and traffic closures will occur on the Fairfax Campus from August 16–20 to accommodate the move-in of nearly 6,000 residential students.

Contractors are currently completing tree work on the Fairfax Campus. Expect heavy equipment, traffic controls, and flaggers along roadways and sidewalks, from July 27 through August 1.

The window replacement project that was scheduled for Thursday, July 27, at Horizon Hall has been rescheduled for Friday, August 4. A large exterior window at Horizon Hall will be replaced. The window is on the 6th floor, facing Krug Hall. Truck traffic will be present on Wilkins Plaza and around Horizon Hall.  

Campus notice for the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University. Sections of sidewalk near Enterprise Hall, facing the Johnson Center, will be closed from Monday, July 24, through Tuesday, August 15, while utility work is performed. Detour signage will be posted to help pedestrians move through the area.

All elevator phones on the Fairfax Campus will be unavailable on Sunday, July 23, from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m., while network updates are performed.
